I get annoyed by very random things; it can range from things people do to something as small as a saying a word incorrectly. For the past couple days, several different people have annoyed me to death. My roommate is the primary one, who plays Halo nonstop. Annoying? I think so. Also, he never takes out the trash or washing the dishes, which makes me the little housewife. But enough about him, there’s more annoying things to talk about!
One of my biggest annoyances is that people think I’m bad at explaining things when they don’t even realize we’re talking about two different things. The biggest example of this was at indoor soccer when we lost 2-1, but I could only remember one of their goals. I simply asked what the first goal was, and that I wasn’t disputing that we lost. Their whole team then berated me saying it was 2-1. I didn’t deny it and was asking what it was. After five minutes of ridiculous arguing, someone finally told me. I said thank you, and walked off the court. Simple, right? Apparently not for some people.
Another big annoyance I’ve had is people’s vocabulary, or lack of it. Frivolous? A little bit, but it’s my blog and I’ll do what I want! A kid I know thinks he’s a genius and tries to use a wide vocabulary and a lot of rhetorical terms. The greatest example was his attempt at using the word “allusion” but instead saying “illusion”. I corrected him and he maintained that he was right. After some unnecessary debating, he finally looked it up and got mad that I was right. It was a little petty, I must admit, but I’m not a fan of cocky people.
On the topic of word choice, my girlfriend has picked up some really weird phrases. Since she’s been at college, she’s been saying “love” a lot. For example, instead of just asking “why?” she’ll say “why, love?” Not a big deal, but for some reason it strikes me as a little bit pompous. She definitely isn’t pompous and I love her to death but I just don’t understand. Also, another little thing she’s picked up is saying “byes” instead of just “bye”. Again, nothing too bad, but sometimes it’s the little things that can make someone go “ugh, why?”
As cynical as this beginning blog may seem, I’m actually in very high spirits! So I figured I'd include things that have made me happy lately. This includes: textsfromlastnight.com (viewer discretion advised), the movie Zombieland, the fact that I’m surprising my girlfriend this weekend, mountainberry lollipops, Joshua Radin, Young Money, and the weather’s starting to shape up.

Everyone in my dorm plays Modern Warfare 2 nonstop. I think everyone gets a little annoyed by those things but they don't show it. Like if my brother did something like that, I would punch him. Everyone seems to get more annoyed by their roommates as time goes but that's living together.
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling, my entire hall has been linking xbox(s) and been playing halo for the whole week, occasionally in my room too.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad people share the same sentiments. Oh yeah, Modern Warfare 2 is played by everyone here; sometime last week literally 7 out of the 8 rooms in our part of the hall were playing it...drives me crazy.
ReplyDeleteWe like to keep it at N64 in Lee. If you don't like arguments about simple mistakes, stay away from VT intramural sports. It's a disaster. I can't stand when girls use the unnecessary "s" either. It's not cute ladies.
