I'm writing this from my girlfriend's dorm at University of Virginia, and we're pretty snowed in as of right now. Although it's nowhere near the amount of snow we got a couple of weeks ago, it's by far the best looking snowstorm I've seen in a long time. It's the huge snowflakes that fall really slow, the winter wonderland stereotype. Unfortunately, this awesome snowstorm ruined my plans.
Since my girlfriend goes to UVa, we talk smack to each other about college. I obviously won the sports battle because of the fantastic basketball team that is the HOKIES! This eventually digressed into a conversation about the stereotypes of UVa and VT. We often joke with each other by her calling me a hick and me calling her stuck-up; obviously we were joking and don't mean anything bad to anyone, for everyone's entitled to their own lifestyle. After that we got talking about how even though that's the big stereotypes of the schools, there is only a small population of those people at each school. This got me thinking about how many stereotypes are completely ridiculous and based on little to no truth. The main examples I thought of were the idea that every Muslim is a terrorist, and every black man is a criminal, and the one that bothers me the most, every homosexual man is obviously attracted to every guy he sees. The question I pose to you, fellow bloggers, is what stereotype bothers you the most?
As for keeping up with my annoyances, my latest bone to pick with people is their fashion sense, or lack thereof. Yes, everyone is allowed to wear whatever they want to a certain extent, but some girl's outfits make me step back and ask, "really???". My favorite is when girls think those thin black spandex tights can double as pants...they don't. It gets even worse when Uggs and rainboots are added into the mix. Uggs are okay, when the girls jeans aren't tucked into them; rainboots are acceptable with jeans because they're very practical. But when spandex is added into the mix, it goes from acceptable to horrendous. Whoever told these girls that that look is "hawt" should be ashamed of themselves.

Although I will agree that spandex aren't really "pants", I won't be complaining if they don't go away any time soon.
ReplyDeleteI don't really get bothered too much by the way people dress. Except in high school there was a girl that dressed like a cow every day to school. I mean with the fake ears, tail, etc. I went to a party Friday night and when I got out, it was snowing quite a bit, but I like the snow, so I was fine with it.
